Waste Reduction

The Three “R’s” of Waste Reduction

  • Reduce – Make a conscious decision when you buy items to reduce packaging by buying in larger quantity, and buying materials with no excess packaging.
  • Reuse – Use boxes and newspapers for other uses, such as storage, litter material, etc.  Use rechargeable batteries.
  • Recycle – Take advantage of Tuscaloosa’s residential curbside and drop-off recycling program.

Close the Loop and Buy Recycled Products

You can support recycling efforts by looking for recycled products when making purchases.

By doing so, you create a larger market for recyclables.

So when you shop, check the label and buy recycled products.
