Responsibilities
The Administration Division of the Tuscaloosa Police Department is responsible for creating the policies and guidelines that govern the actions of the department.

Chief Steven D. Anderson
Steve Anderson was selected as Chief of Police by Mayor Walt Maddox in August 2008. Anderson was chosen from a field of over a dozen candidates. Chief Anderson was sworn in on October 1, 2008, becoming the first African-American chief for the city's police department. Chief Anderson has spent his entire law enforcement career with the Tuscaloosa Police Department, beginning as a patrol officer in in 1994. Anderson moved quickly through the ranks becoming an investigator, patrol sergeant, Internal Affairs lieutenant and captain. Assistant Chief Ronnie Dunn and Mitt Tubbs
Assisting Chief Anderson in his duties are Assistant Chiefs Ronnie Dunn and Mitt Tubbs.
AC Dunn has been with the department since 1984 and was promoted to assistant chief in 2003.
AC Tubbs was hired in 1987 and was also promoted to his current assignment in 2003.
Both Dunn and Tubbs bring years of experience and a keen awareness of the needs of our citizens to our department.
Captain Mike Kearney
Captain Mike Kearney is the department's comptroller.
With a strong background in economics and accounting, Kearney makes sure the department is funded properly and within its budget.
