Public Affairs is broken into two divisions, Public Information and Crime Prevention These units have myriad responsibilities.
Public Information
The Public Information Office disseminates information to the public and the media. This may come in the form of interviews and press releases or special programs designed to inform and educate the public.
Captain Greg Kosloff, the head of Public Information, prepares our Daily Briefing which is supplied to the media. The report outlines significant police activity over the last 24 hours. Captain Kosloff is also responsible for scheduling media interviews.
Crime Prevention
The Crime Prevention Unit is headed by Captain Charlene Wilkinson and is responsible for such programs as D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and the Police Athletic League (PAL).
Captain Wilkinson also is a certified Child Safety Seat technician and routinely hosts events designed to ensure the proper installation and use of child safety seats.
There are many programs designed for area schools including Bicycle Safety, Halloween Safety and Pedestrian Safety. Our Neighborhood watch program is also administered through this office. |
