Water service is provided to approximately 130,000 customers using over 50,800 water service connections. It consists of 548 miles of water main 4" and larger.

DISTRIBUTION

The Water Distribution staff objective is to provide customers with continuous water service to domestic, irrigation and fire service connection. Our staff responds to water main breaks, water meter leaks, fire hydrant leaks and water pressure and flow concerns.

The staff also performs routine maintenance on more than 3100 fire hydrants in our system, as well as installing new water meters of sizes 2" and less. The support staff also provides material inventory to assist crews as well as provide material handling for all developer requested water main extensions.

The Water Works Distribution Center is located at 2621 Kaulton Road on approximately 29 acres which houses approximately 50 pieces of equipment including truck cranes, backhoes, trenchers, air compressors and many other pieces of equipment. This location houses the inventory stockyard and buildings as well as staff office space.

The Distribution Center maintains an average annual inventory of approximately 1.5 million dollars in ductile iron pipe, fittings, meters and etc. The distribution crews install water mains, fire hydrants and meters on a daily basis. There are crews dispatched from this location to maintain and repair any water main, fire hydrant or meter leaks in the system. The water distribution staff totals 40 personnel consisting of Four construction/maintenance crews, One water pressure/meter crew, an inventory supply staff as well as dispatchers and office staff.
