Our Principles
- Business needs drive information technology solutions and IT infrastructure or projects should compliment stated business goals.
- Business processes should be constantly evaluated for opportunities where technology can improve service, lower costs and increase productivity.
- Information Technology should be managed as an asset and should adhere to ideals such as funding system replacements prior to reaching end-of-life cycles, limiting resources for "legacy systems" and investing in education and training for technical staff and end users to fully attain effectiveness of technology solutions.
- Implement contemporary but proven technology. Tuscaloosa will stay abreast of emerging technological trends and will use research as well as pilot projects to fully vet and approve full scale adoption.
- Data should be captured once, as close to its source as possible, and should be shared among all City departments or users to avoid the administration and cost overhead of redundancy.
